Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to announce his 2024 presidential bid Wednesday evening during a live audio discussion on Twitter Spaces with the site’s billionaire CEO Elon Musk.
DeSantis will join former President Trump and others — including former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott — in the growing Republican primary race.
Here’s how to listen to the much-anticipated event.
Musk and DeSantis will host the discussion, moderated by tech entrepreneur David Sacks, on Twitter Spaces at 6 p.m. EST.
Viewers can tune into the discussion via the “Twitter Spaces” tab on the platform’s mobile app or by joining a link on Twitter’s desktop version. You don’t need to be logged into a Twitter account to hear.
A direct link to the announcement was not yet available Wednesday afternoon.
Twitter Spaces is a live audio feature on the social media platform where users can have conversations, and anyone can listen via iOS or Android,” according to the social media site.
Any user with 600 or more followers can host a “Space” event, with up to 13 people able to speak at any given time.
Yes, the Florida governor is scheduled to do a more-traditional interview on Fox News with former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) after his Twitter appearance at 8 p.m. EST Wednesday.
Twitter has reportedly been eyeing political ad cash after several corporate advertisers abandoned the site when Musk took over last year.
“I am interested in Twitter being somewhat of a town square,” Musk, who is also chief executive of Tesla, said Tuesday.
Twitter said in January it will reverse its 2019 ban on political ads, bringing its policies closer to the models of Facebook and Google.
