In 2005, George Clooney wrote, directed and acted in the historical drama “Good Night and Good Luck.”

Clooney’s film, which tells the tale of trailblazing journalist Edward R. Murrow and his battle with anti-Communist U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy, was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture.

20 years after the film’s release, the 63-year-old screen icon is making his Broadway debut in a revival of the critically-acclaimed motion picture.

This time around, the popular actor will step into the Murrow role (David Stratharin portrayed him in the movie). He’ll be flanked by well-known actors like Ilana Glazer (“Broad City”), Clark Gregg (“The Avengers”) and Frank Kranz (“The Cabin in the Woods”) among others.

To bring the action to life, Clooney told the New York Times that “the stage will be transformed into a newsroom with about 30 monitors moving around, showing old footage” to “recreate what it’s like to watch television being made,” the play’s Tony Award-winning director David Cromer said.

“We’re going to do it onstage with cameras and live feed to mix with the real footage,” Cromer added. “so you’ll see George and then you’ll see Joseph McCarthy and you’ll see George and you’ll see Joseph McCarthy.”

“[The play] feels more like it’s about truth, not just the press. Facts matter.”

As of now, the show is set to run for 99 performances at the Winter Garden Theatre. Previews begin March 12; “Good Night and Good Luck” officially opens April 3.

After beginning previews Wednesday, March 12, “Good Night and Good Luck” will go dark on Sundays before the show opens.

Once Clooney’s drama officially gets underway on April 3, eight performances are scheduled from Tuesday through Sunday until the final June 8 show.

Theater fans that prefer to leave midtown before it gets dark out can catch matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1 p.m.; curtains come up Sunday early shows at 2 p.m.
