For the first time since 2020, the Orlando Magic are in the NBA playoffs.
The last time they advanced to the postseason, they had a different coach and starting five.
This go-round, the new look 2023-24 Magic — who finished fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 47-35 record — are led by coach Jamahl Mosley and the high-scoring duo Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
“So proud, there’s not really a lot of words for it,” Mosley said. “You talk about a group who has been up and down, battled back, resilient. We say all the words, all the cliché words that we want, but they showed it. They proved it. Big stakes, they took it in their own hands and played together, played the right way.”
However, it won’t be a walk in the park for the scrappy squad as they try to win their first playoff series since 2011.
To kick things off, they’ll face off against the formidable, fourth-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers whom they split their season series with, 2-2.
They’ll have to look out for stars Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Max Struss as well as bruising defensive stalwart Evan Mobley who will likely go head to head with Banchero.
