Can I offer the Phillies’ future as a way to try to ease the anger and pain of New York baseball fans after disappointing seasons?
Can I note to Mets fans where the NL East champs are moving forward as perhaps an area for hope and optimism for their own team?
Bryce Harper turns 33 Thursday, is signed through 2031, spent time on the IL for the fifth straight year and just had a good season for most players, but a downturn for him.
Both Aaron Nola and Trea Turner will be turning 33 next June. Nola is signed through 2030, Turner through 2033. Nola, whose durability was his calling card, missed three months with an ankle injury and pitched to a 6.01 ERA in 17 starts. Turner had a brilliant season as the NL batting champ (.306) while stealing 36 bases. But his legs are instrumental to his game, and even in a more fruitful time for thievery, no one 33 or over stole more than 18 bases in 2025.
