The average American is expected to drink six spiked eggnogs this month, for an estimated total of 1.2 billion boozy beverages across the country, according to a new survey.
New Yorkers average seven eggnogs per month and are tea totalers compared to Vermonters, who lead the US with an average of 19 of the holiday drinks per adult, the survey says.
Garden State residents square up with the national average, according to the findings.
The data comes from the website Wealth of Geeks, which surveyed 3,000 people to find out how many “milk punches” they typically drink throughout the holiday season.
The best time to have that first eggnog of the day is between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., the survey found.
The most common alcohol added to eggnog is bourbon, rum, or brandy.
The sweet and spicy beverage has been a holiday staple for hundreds of years.
The best eggnogs in the city can be had at Melba’s on 114th Street in Harlem, according to Foursquare, which cited the outrageous “eggnog waffles.”
