NextImg:How Dolphins players are reacting to the calls for Mike McDaniel to be fired

Banners are flying and the temperature is turning up in Miami.

Mike McDaniel has had a nightmare start to the 2025 season, and while planes are flying around with banners calling for his job, players are pushing back on the Dolphins coach getting most of the blame.

“At the end of the day, it’s not him out there on the field,” linebacker Chop Robinson told the Miami Herald. “It’s us out there playing the game, making the mistakes on the field and stuff like that. So at the end of the day, it may look bad for him, but it’s really on us. We’ve got to get it better.”

“He believes in his players,” the offensive tackle Patrick Paul said.

“He inspires us,” linebacker Tyrel Dodson said, adding that players simply must execute assignments.

The Dolphins, who were blown out by the Colts and lost a close game to the Patriots to open the season, are now staring down the barrel of a 0-3 start as they head to Buffalo for a matchup with the juggernaut Bills on Thursday night.

McDaniel told reporters on Monday that he’s not listening to the outside noise, no matter how loud it gets.

“I think if I worry about my job security, I won’t be doing my job,” McDaniel said. “I won’t spend one moment thinking about all the things that people — whatever people want me to think about. I’m thinking about this team and the Buffalo Bills here after I get done with this podium.”
