Home is where the heart is — even decades after moving out.
Despite the pains of renovation, a new homeowner was delighted to find a loving message hiding beneath the wallpaper of a room she was redecorating.
Posting on her TikTok page, @Farnovations, the woman, who does not share her name, shared a video of her peeling off the wallpaper of her home.
“Frankie I love u, Pat,” read the hidden message on the wall.
“I started to remove the wallpaper when I saw that there was a hidden message on the wall,” she said in the video which has over 470,000 views since being posted two days ago.
“I could quickly guess what it was so I was extra careful not to damage the paint,” she added.
She explained that Frankie was the elderly woman who sold her the home.
“She is 80+ and Patrick is her husband who passed away a few years ago,” she explained.
“They spent 45 years in the house and raised their children here.”
The woman said she planned to send Frankie a photo of their message so that they would always remember it.
“We will wallpaper this wall again so this message stays in the house,” she promised.
Commenters below her video were touched by the woman’s findings.
“This is what life is all about, love and beloved,” one wrote.
“Did you leave something on the wall 2?,” someone asked.
The woman replied, “We will yes!!”
“I moved into a Victorian house years ago and found names and dates of people who’d lived there. We added our names + date we moved and wallpapered it,” another shared.
This isn’t the first time someone discovered a secret message in their home.
A nearly 70-year-old bottle of beer with a message on it was found inside the wall of a Delaware home that’s over 100 years old.
On the bottle’s label, someone had scribbled, “This bottle was put in here by the plumber on 3/25/55” more than 68 years ago.
