It’s the reunion we’ve all been waiting for.
Just months after retiring from daytime television, Hoda Kotb will finally be returning to NBC to guest host Today With Jenna & Friends Wednesday, May 28, to announce her new project.
Jenna Bush Hager announced the news Tuesday after teasing Wednesday’s mystery guest host on the show. The only clue she gave Today viewers was that the mystery guest was a “former basketball star turned bestselling author,” referring to Kotb’s years of playing basketball in high school.
“For one day only, Hoda Kotb is back! Hoda is announcing her new project tomorrow so she’s going to come and spend the day with us and we feel so excited,” Bush Hager announced on Today. “I was texting her at 5:30 this morning as one does. I can’t wait.”
Kotb and Bush Hager co-hosted the fourth hour of The Today Show together for almost six years until her retirement. This will mark Kotb’s first appearance on Today With Jenna & Friends since her exit.
Bush Hager did not share any more details about Kotb’s appearance or her new project. However, Kotb has said that she is looking to develop a wellness app.

Kotb retired from The Today Show and daytime television this past January after 27 years at NBC. Her departure from the network was an emotional one that was capped off with a massive “Hoda-bration,” where a live audience and several celebrity guests gave her the send-off she deserved.
Kotb is expected to stay on at NBC as a correspondent for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. She has also teased that she expects to return to NBC for semi-monthly segments.
“I want to be a supporting character on a team that is already in place so that I’ll come in and just have a role there. And then I’m going to do my Making Space podcast, which I enjoy and love so much,” Kotb said, per Page Six. “And for The Today Show, I think we talked about doing something every four to six weeks, just a little something.”
Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
