NextImg:Hoda Kotb calls Jenna Bush Hager out after her cranky rant on ‘Today’: “Is Mercury in retrograde?”

Today host Jenna Bush Hager had such an intense reaction to Billboard magazine’s ranking of the Top 75 Movie Songs Of All Time that her co-host Hoda Kotb had to talk her down a bit during the broadcast.

Bush Hager was shocked to learn that Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You” was not among the top songs on the list. “I know this is not subjective, but I have some issues. Where was The Bodyguard in any of this? Where was ‘I Will Always Love You?’ That should be number one!” she demanded.

Kotb attempted to share her own theory as to why the song didn’t make the list, saying there were “fewer” movies to choose from “back in the day.”

But Bush Hager wasn’t buying it. “I hate to debunk your theory. Because Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, or whatever that was, came out around the same time as The Bodyguard. Someone needs to Google to confirm, but [producer Talia Parkinson-Jones] is shaking her head,” she said, doubling down on her point. “They’re both Kevin Costner films! Y’all, I’m sorry.”

In an apparent attempt to calm Bush Hager down, Kotb replied in a much quieter tone, “It’s okay, Billboard got it wrong. It happens sometimes. Even Billboard makes mistakes.”

The Today crew then notified them that “I Will Always Love You” was ranked as number seven on the list. “It was number seven. See? You got something, it’s okay. You’re edgy, are you okay? Are you good?” she asked her co-host.

“I’m a little edgy. I didn’t sleep well last night!” Bush Hager confessed.

“There was something,” Kotb responded. “Is Mercury in retrograde?”

“Yeah, because you didn’t sleep well either,” Bush Hager replied.

Fortunately, she later agreed to “let it go.” Trust us, Jenna — it’s for the best!

Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
