NextImg:Hochul’s spineless Mamdani support: Letters to the Editor — Sept. 17, 2025

The Issue: Gov. Hochul endorsing New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

Rather than show some backbone or spine, Gov. Hochul has endorsed the socialist, antisemitic Zohran Mamdani (“Oh, gov us a break, Hochul,” Editorial, Sept. 15).

In addition, Hochul justified her decision by saying that Mamdani will do everything to stop President Trump.

Since when did Trump become part of the reason to vote either for or against a candidate?

He should not be part of the equation.

I pray that when Hochul runs for reelection, New Yorkers will remember congestion pricing and her Mamdani endorsement — two failures she forced down our throats.

Alan Brooks

Brooklyn

Hochul’s lack of willingness to stand up for what is right — not endorsing a candidate who supports defunding the police, the destruction of Israel, antisemitism and other radical socialist ideas — shows her true colors.

She is just another political hack.

Harold Fishman

Manhattan

If anyone is still questioning whether Hochul is fully controlled by the far-left radical Democrats who control New York politics, then her support for Mamdani should remove any doubt.

Her capitulation to the fanatics who are destroying New York, city and state.

This is another clear example of the relentless pursuit of power by leftist antisemites, anti-capitalists and anti-Americans.

New Yorkers can avoid political and societal suicide by voting against such militancy.

James McCaffrey

Yonkers

Hochul wouldn’t be governor if Andrew Cuomo hadn’t picked her out of obscurity to be his running mate.

You would think she’d endorse him for mayor, but her true colors were revealed.

She has no loyalty and, like any no-core politician, stoops to what others want.

Frank Barnett

Queens

Hochul, who will go down as the worst governor in New York’s history, endorsed Zohran Mamdami — who, if elected, will become the worst mayor in New York City history, who was also endorsed by the worst previous mayor in the city’s history, Bill de Blasio.

Maybe it’s time to consider moving to a free American state.

God help New York.

Dan Gardner

Staten Island

Hell has finally begun to freeze over; Gov. Hochul has lost her mind to endorse Mamdani.

Welcome to New York City, soon to be a sewer of a city.

We will need all the help we can get to survive a Mamdani administration.

Harve Kaye

Brooklyn

It is unfortunate that a mediocre governor, with virtually no meaningful accomplishments, has opted to be recognized not for making the state a better place, but for endorsing a socialist whose policies are bad for New York City.

Yakov Moshe

Brooklyn

Why is anyone surprised Hochul is supporting Zohran?

She is just pandering to his base for the sake of her 2026 re-election campaign.

Zohran is so scary with his anti-public safety agenda.

Voters have no idea what they’re in store for.

The political icing is on the cake now that Kathy Hochul has decided to endorse mayoral candidate Mamdani for mayor in the upcoming November election.

Why on God’s green earth would she even consider this man to be the next mayor?

Has she no common sense?

Should Mamdani win the election, he is going to turn this city into a political disaster.

Many people will decide that it is time to pack up and leave the city for a safer place.

John Amato

Queens

I believe Hochul is only endorsing Mamdani because he’s the front-runner in the mayoral election.

She’s looking for votes because she knows that New Yorkers have mixed feelings about her for another term.

She is thinking about her own political gain.

By endorsing Mamdani, Hochul is in support of defunding the police, legalizing prostitution and antisemitic behavior.
