Gov. Kathy Hochul will again try her hand at comedy to a crowd of Albany wonks Wednesday night as part of the annual satirical performance by the state Capitol press corps.
Hochul–along with other Albany pols–will certainly find herself at the butt end of many jokes prepared by the Legislative Correspondents Association, which has been putting on the event for 122 years.
“Favorite beer since high school,” Hochul notably remarked during last year’s show after tossing back a Genesee red eye while donning Buffalo Bills gear.

This year’s show — which has a “Barbie” theme following the 2023 summer blockbuster — includes rebuttal addresses by Hochul, as well as Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R-Oswego) and a video prepared by Rep. Mike Lawler (R-Rockland).
“In politics, I mean, we know we’re not funny people naturally, so it’s going to take a little work,” Barclay told Spectrum News in an interview previewing the show.
Proceeds from the annual event go to the Regional Foodbank of Northeastern New York.
