Following a limited theatrical run in August 2025, the newest Spike Lee “joint” is making its way to streaming.

“Highest 2 Lowest,” which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, will be available for all Apple TV+ subscribers to watch beginning Friday (Sept. 5).

The new film marks Lee’s fifth collaboration with actor Denzel Washington, and his first in nearly 20 years (their last, “Inside Man,” was released in 2006). In “Highest 2 Lowest,” Washington plays David King, a successful record executive and music mogul who gets targeted with a ransom plot when his son Trey (Aubrey Joseph) gets kidnapped.

“Highest 2 Lowest” is an English-language remake and reinterpretation of the 1963 Akira Kurosawa film “High and Low,” which was filmed and set in New York City.

“Highest 2 Lowest” begins streaming Friday, Sept. 5, on Apple TV+.

Apple TV+ does tend to drop new movies and shows earlier, though, so while Sept. 5 is the official release date, you may be able to watch “Highest 2 Lowest” as early as 9 p.m. ET tonight, Sept. 4.

“Highest 2 Lowest” is being released exclusively on Apple TV+, so you’ll need an Apple TV+ subscription to watch the new movie.

Apple TV+ has just one ad-free plan, which costs $12.99/month, but new subscribers can take advantage of a seven-day free trial. If you choose to subscribe via Prime Video, you can also try the service for free before payment begins.

Musicians like A$AP Rocky, Ice Spice, and Princess Nokia are among the stacked cast of “Highest 2 Lowest.”
