NextImg:Heroes, zeros from Giants’ loss to Raiders: Darius Slayton made things worse

Hero, zero and full blitz from the Giants’ 30-6 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.

Raiders running back Josh Jacobs finished with 98 yards rushing and two TDs on 26 carries.

Not prolific numbers, but Jacobs set an offensive tone in the game as the Giants’ defense had difficulty containing him.

It took pressure off the Raiders’ rookie QB Aidan O’Connell.

Raiders rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who was making his second career start, didn’t light the air up with a passing assault, but he completed 16 of 25 for 209 yards and didn’t turn the ball over.

More significantly, he was 9 of 10 for 135 yards in the first half when it was still a game.

It was only one play and the game was virtually decided, but Giants receiver Darius Slayton dropped a Tommy DeVito pass with the team trailing 21-0 in the second quarter and the ball deflected to Raiders CB Nate Hobbs for an interception that wasn’t DeVito’s fault.

8: That’s how many times the Giants QBs were sacked, for losses of 46 yards.

“Everyone’s going through this adversity together, so we’ve got to be tighter than ever. It’s not going to be easy. It’s not going to be fun. It’s our job.’’ — Giants offensive lineman Justin Pugh
