More On:

Jon Stewart

Starting tonight, Jon Stewart makes his triumphant return to The Daily Show on a weekly basis, taking over the Monday-night slot as the 2024 election heats up. While Stewart is back at his old stomping grounds, he’s sharing the spotlight; Daily Show correspondents will assume the role of host on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.

Stewart will not only serve as part-time host, but will also executive produce the hit comedy news show, a role he could hold until 2025, per Variety.

The search for a new, permanent host has been ongoing since Stewart’s successor, Trevor Noah, revealed that he would be leaving his post in 2022. Last November, Noah spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, claiming that while he missed “the team and the people” at the show, he did not miss “not having the time to process” how he felt about issues before discussing them on air.

As for Stewart announcing his return on on X, that wasn’t just news to all of us, but also to late night host (and Daily Show alum) John Oliver, who deemed it a “surprise” when he found out during an appearance on Today.

“That’s a show that needs a host,” he affirmed. “He certainly is a very, very good one. So yeah, it’ll be exciting to see what he does.”

While some may not be as excited for Stewart’s return, those who are happy to see him back can keep reading to find out how to catch his second run on The Daily Show sans cable.
