NextImg:Helping Palestinians requires eradicating Hamas, not funding it —as Biden’s aid package would do

The best way to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people is to eradicate Hamas.

Yet the United States is once again poised to enable terrorism against our greatest ally in the Middle East.

President Joe Biden’s proposed aid package provides the Palestinian people up to $9 billion in support.

But much of the money funneled to the region through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East and other supposed “humanitarian” organizations will prop up Hamas terrorists.

The United States has sent well over $6 billion to UNRWA since its creation.

Biden has directed $1 billion alone to the agency since he took office. Hamas is a direct beneficiary of this aid.

When it executed the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust, Hamas came equipped with UN-supplied medical kits.

The terror group has long used UNRWA facilities — even schools — to stash weapons and launch attacks against Israel.

Just last week, Hamas stole 24,000 liters of gasoline from UNRWA, which the agency immediately tried to cover up.

Hamas, of course, is not using this fuel to provide fresh water its people desperately need or power hospitals for civilians.

Instead, Hamas will almost certainly use the fuel to power its vast network of underground tunnels to avoid detection by Israeli forces.

But UNRWA officials aren’t just complicit — they are active participants in Hamas’ terror, courtesy of the American taxpayer.

The organization has a well-documented history of antisemitism and has employed individuals affiliated with Hamas.

UNRWA staff celebrated Hamas’ barbaric Oct. 7 massacre, with a pediatrician praising the attackers as “martyrs of the Islamic and Arab nation, who were martyred in defending their homeland and nation.”

We have proof UNRWA staff are breeding the next generation of Hamas extremists within the walls of their US-funded schools, disseminating educational materials that teach Palestinian children to hate Jews, glorifying acts of terror and celebrating the slaughter of innocent Israelis.

A reading-comprehension exercise in a UNRWA middle school praised a firebombing of an Israeli bus as a “barbecue party,” UN Watch discovered.

Another UNRWA middle school went so far as to encourage young girls to sacrifice “their blood,” with grammar exercises including such phrases as “I will commit jihad to liberate the homeland” and “I will not give up a centimeter of my land.”

The fact Hamas still has the capacity to fire rockets at Israeli population centers more than two weeks after the war began demonstrates the group’s sole mission: to destroy Israel.

We’ve all seen the propaganda videos — produced by Hamas — of terrorists uprooting water pipes in Gaza so they can turn them into rockets to fire at Israeli civilians.

Hamas sees Palestinian lives as expendable, and it cares about only one thing — eradicating the Jewish people.

By continuing to fund UNRWA, the Biden administration is complicit in emboldening terror attacks against our greatest ally in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump was correct when he halted US funding for UNRWA.

In the Senate, I have introduced legislation to once again freeze all funding to this vile, Jew-hating organization.

If history is any indication, our funds will go directly to aiding and abetting Hamas’ activities.

The Biden team’s naïveté is truly striking. When it’s not giving $6 billion in ransom money to Iran, it’s attempting to send up to $9 billion to a Hamas-linked organization.

Instead of bowing to pressure from Rep. Rashida Tlaib and other Hamas sympathizers in Congress, Biden can take real steps to stop propping up the terror group and help the Palestinian people.

The president should call on Congress to pass my legislation to halt all UNRWA funding.

It is in the best interests of Israelis, Palestinian civilians and Americans to destroy Hamas once and for all and to demilitarize Gaza.

Only then can Palestinians have the opportunity to thrive and achieve peace with Israel.

Biden must understand the reality on the ground: We can only help the people of Gaza by aiding Israel in its mission to obliterate Hamas.

This is the only way Israelis and Palestinians can move forward together.
