A heartless thief allegedly took the wing from the wreckage of a deadly plane crash in Tennessee and drove off with it in the back of his pickup truck.

Authorities have said that the right wing of the 1978 Cessna had been stolen from the side of the road after Dr. Lionel Meadows, of Commerce, Georgia, crashed his 45-year-old aircraft over Polk County on May 8.

The Polk County 911 Emergency Communication District pleaded with the culprit to come forward.

“This piece is very important to putting together the puzzle of what happened. This not only is to aid in the investigation but also to give family and even the emergency workers the closure they need,” the appeal read.

“If you have any information on the whereabouts of the wing or who may have took it please notify the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.”

On Monday, WTVC reported that a security camera captured the stolen plane part being driven away in the back of a blue pickup truck on May 10.

The Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that the object was the wing in question, the Miami Herald said.

“Honestly if they would just take it back and put it where they got it, that would be good enough for me,” the 911 Emergency Communication District commented on the original post.
