One Devils fan showed more fight than his favorite hockey team Thursday night.
A Devils fan and a Rangers fan brawled during New York’s 5-1 road win, with the Devils fan starting the skirmish with a headbutt that resulted in punches being thrown.
With the Rangers leading 2-0 toward the end of the first period, a Devils fan in a Jack Hughes jersey is seen standing next to the rail and yelling at a fan in a different section.
Said fan, who apparently is not wearing any Rangers gear, gets up from his seat and the two start chirping at one another as the Rangers and Devils skated in the background mere yards away.
“Sit down,” another fan yells in the background, captured by X user @NotErichMorey.
A Rangers fan then comes and touches the apparent Rangers fan in the discussion, seemingly in an attempt to shut it down, but the fans keep barking.
A Devils fan, also in a Hughes jersey, then attempts to do the same for the Devils fan and it went about as well as you can imagine.
“Kick his ass!” one fan yells. “Beat his ass!”
The Devils fan then pours gasoline on the situation by lunging across the rail to headbutt the Rangers fan.
Punches are then thrown, while the Devils fan is grabbed from behind by a security officer.
As the Devils fan attempts to walk up the aisle, the Rangers fan returns fire and throws a punch across the rail.
It’s hard to tell from the video just how well the punch connected.
“Worldstar,” one fan yells in reference to the popular hip hop website that showcases brawls.
A woman then comes between the two fans as they continue to brawl, before the Devils fan appeals to the crowd.
“I didn’t start s–t,” he seemingly says.
Fans then start taunting the Devils fan as the security officer takes him away from his seat.
“Go home, buddy, go home,” one fan yells.
“You headbutted him,” another yells.
Some fans then bood the Devils fan — despite the game being in Newark — and he flips off some fans before waving his hands upwards, seemingly in an attempt to galvanize whatever supporters he had.
Between the lopsided loss and seemingly getting the boot, it’s safe to say this Devils fan has had better nights.
