Haywood Highsmith was cited for careless driving for his involvement in a car crash that injured another person on Tuesday night.

The Heat forward was involved in the crash following Tuesday’s win over the Magic in Miami at about 11:30 p.m., according to a police report viewed by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. 

The report stated that Highsmith, who was uninjured, was driving in a “careless or negligent manner” when the crash occurred, and he was issued the citation. 

The citation is not considered criminal, the outlet reported. 

Highsmith, 27, was driving a 2021 Audi A5 going about 45 mph, 5 mph over the speed limit, when he struck a disabled 1999 Toyota 4Runner SUV with its lights off that was on Southwest 136th St. near Southwest 138th Ave. in unincorporated Miami-Dade County. 

After not being able to stop in time, Highsmith crashed into the car and struck a man who was standing directly behind the vehicle after stopping to assist the disabled car. 

The force of the crash sent the car 50 to 60 yards. 

The good Samaritan was “suffering from a partial amputation on his right leg,” a fractured left leg and a possible broken arm, according to the report. 

He was taken to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition. 

Highsmith did not play in Wednesday’s game when the Heat defeated the Spurs 116-104. 

Prior to the contest, the Heat acknowledged that Highsmith had been involved in a car crash.

“We have been made aware that Highsmith was involved in a car accident heading home from last night’s game,” a team statement read. “Highsmith is listed as out for tonight’s contest against the San Antonio Spurs due to Personal Reasons. Our hearts go out to those who were injured. We will have no further comment at this time.”
