NextImg:Have you been applying lipstick wrong? Celeb makeup artist reveals hack for the perfect lip

She’s not all talk — this lipstick hack will transform your routine.

Celebrity makeup artist Kathie Janes Hughes revealed that the secret to a precise lip is using the bullet backward for “more control” of the product.

The flat part of the applicator, she explained, creates a “reduced visibility” when swiping the product onto the lips, making for a messier and “cumbersome” application.

“However, when you flip the bullet around, that angle lets you see everything a little bit better,” Hughes said in a viral TikTok clip with more than 17,000 views.

For the bottom lip, she starts in the center of the lip, swiping the product across it, and then takes the point of the lipstick bullet and uses it as a lip liner.

But her unconventional method was met with resistance from viewers, who said it “feels illegal” to apply the product that way.

“I agree completely and still, I can’t do it, just can’t,” wrote one person.

Others applauded the newfound trick, saying it “changed the game” in their makeup routine, while some admitted they had always applied lipstick this way.

“I learned this from one of your videos maybe 6 months ago and it’s changed the game!! I never liked the way lipstick looked on me before trying this hack,” one viewer commented.

“I’ve always done it that way…didn’t even know people did it the other way,” another quipped.

“Literally always do this!! Have been called a lunatic for it before though haha,” someone else admitted.

Hughes regularly shares cosmetic tips and tricks on TikTok, where she boasts over 266,000 followers.

Most recently, she posted a tutorial on lip liner application and smudging using a brush, demonstrating how certain product formulas and colors and be blended once applied to the lips.

In another addressed to those who “hate the way foundation or concealers looks on your face,” she filmed “necessary” step-by-step instructions on skin preparation and product application, encouraging thorough exfoliating and moisturizing before applying any product to the skin.

It’s important, she said, to get a small amount of product deep into the bristles of a small, fluffy brush and then push the product lightly into the skin with the bristles to ensure a “five-star” complexion using less product than most people think they need.
