The Yankees added potential injury to insult on Wednesday.
Harrison Bader was removed from the game entering the bottom of the sixth after getting drilled in the lower back by a 95 mph sinker from Angels reliever Jose Soriano in the top of the inning.
Bader stayed on the ground briefly after the plunking and was tended to by Aaron Boone and a trainer.
But he remained in the game to run the bases before Isiah Kiner-Falefa replaced him in center field to start the bottom of the sixth.
Before the hit by pitch, Bader was 0-for-2 with a strikeout. He was one of many Yankees in the midst of a slump, entering Wednesday 9-for-48 (.188) with a .518 OPS and 13 strikeouts in 13 games this month.
The severity of his injury was not immediately known, but Bader has already had two trips to the injured list this year.
He missed the beginning of the season with a strained oblique that he suffered in spring training before going back on the IL in late May with a strained hamstring.
