NextImg:Haley and Hanna Cavinder recap memorable 2023 in new Instagram video: ‘So thankful’

Haley and Hanna Cavinder are “thankful” for the past year.

In an Instagram video posted Saturday, the social media sensations reflected on a memorable 2023, which included an Elite Eight run at the NCAA tournament with the Miami Hurricanes, as well as Haley’s surprise return to college hoops.

“One of the most specials years, so thankful for 2023,” the Cavinders captioned the clip.

Upon wrapping March Madness, the 22-year-old siblings — who rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic — revealed they would be moving on from basketball to pursue other opportunities.

“Miami, thank you for an unforgettable season,” the Cavinders began in a joint social media post from April. “The love and support we received form the university and the city was special. We would like to thank our teammates and coaches for bringing us in as a family and being part of a historic season. With that being said, Hanna and I have decided to not take our fifth year and start a new chapter in our lives.

“The U will always be home and we are forever proud to be Hurricanes. Lastly, to everyone who has supported us through our basketball journey – we can’t thank you enough for all the love you gave each and every game. What started as us playing basketball 16 years ago, turned into something bigger than we could ever imagine.”

Two months after leaving the sport, the Cavinder twins made their WWE television debut in June as part of NXT.

The sisters signed NIL deals with WWE in December 2021.

Outside of WWE, the Cavinders launched the “Twin Talk” podcast over the summer.

But it was in October when Haley stunned fans with her decision to un-retire from basketball, focusing on the 2024-25 season.

“It comes from a foundation of she misses basketball more than anything in the world and as it approaches another season, even more so. She is going to hop in the portal. She’s 100% making her return to college basketball,” Haley’s agent, Jeff Hoffman, told On3 Sports at the time.

Haley announced her commitment to the TCU Horned Frogs in November.

“The last rodeo,” she posted on Instagram at the time.

Haley, a 5-foot-6 guard, averaged 12 points per game last season.
