DETROIT — Hal Steinbrenner is promising a “deep dive” into the Yankees’ organization — including its analytics wing — as they head down the stretch at risk of having its first losing season in 31 years.

For a club that entered the year with World Series aspirations — and the second-highest luxury tax payroll in MLB (currently projected to be roughly $295 million, per Cot’s Contracts) — the Yankees have been a brutal disappointment, carrying a 65-69 record into the final month of the season.

“We’re going to take a very deep dive into everything we’re doing,” Steinbrenner told the Associated Press on Thursday at the club’s minor league complex in Tampa. “We’re looking to bring in possibly an outside company to really take a look at the analytics side of what we do. Baseball operations in general. We’re going to have some very frank conversions with each other. This year was obviously unacceptable.”

General manager Brian Cashman recently called the Yankees’ season “a disaster,” echoing Steinbrenner’s pledge that “every aspect of the operation” would be evaluated.

The longtime GM just signed a new four-year contract last offseason while manager Aaron Boone has one year left on his deal after this season, plus a team option for 2025.

The Yankees have faced criticisms for relying too heavily on analytics and/or their analytics group not being up to par with other top organizations around the league.

Steinbrenner and Cashman have said the Yankees strike the right balance between analytics and pro scouting, but it appears the former will be under the microscope this offseason.

With the Yankees getting closer to being eliminated from playoff contention by the day, they will have a longer offseason than usual to undergo the organizational autopsy.

The Yankees were 36-25 on June 4, the day after Aaron Judge tore a ligament in his big right toe while slamming into the right-field wall at Dodger Stadium, but have gone just 29-44 since then.

That included a 7-18 free-fall from July 30-Aug. 27 in which they spiraled out of playoff contention, leading them to turn their attention to the future.

That will continue on Friday when top prospects Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells are called up to make their major league debuts.

“We’ll learn a lot in September and we’ll learn a lot in the spring,” Steinbenner said. “That’s why I didn’t want to trade these guys away at the trade deadline. We’ve traded away too many guys the last few years. So, I think it will be exciting.”
