Married life with Hailee Steinfeld has given Josh Allen a new perspective.
Speaking to ESPN ahead of Monday night’s eventual 24-14 loss to the Falcons, the star Bills quarterback was asked by Marty Smith about what Steinfeld has taught him as they continue to build a life together following their dreamy California wedding this past May.
“Maybe that I am more than a football player,” Allen said.
“My whole dream as a kid, you know, has been to be in this position, and I have never thought of anything outside of that or beyond that. Hopefully, I get to still play this game for a very long time and ultimately, my goal is to play this for as long as I physically can, but there is life after it as well.”
The seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Allen has starred in Buffalo across eight seasons, earning three Pro Bowl nods.
Allen, 29, was first linked to Steinfeld, 28, ahead of the 2023 season — one year before he was named league MVP for a dominant 2024 campaign.
“She’s been a huge part. The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. She’s just the best,” Allen told the Associated Press in December 2024.
The couple has supported one another’s careers, with Allen championing Steinfeld’s performance in the box office smash “Sinners,” and the Academy Award nominee cheering on the Bills from Buffalo.

Although Allen is still very much in the prime of his career — not to mention he’s locked in through 2030 after agreeing to a six-year, $330 million contract extension in March — life with Steinfeld makes him feel most fulfilled.
“My wife is an unbelievable, undeniable rock star in her work, in her life. As a person, she’s everything that I need in my life,” he said.
Allen and the Bills enter the bye week at 4-2 following back-to-back defeats. Before Monday’s loss, they fell to the Patriots in primetime on Oct. 5.
“We’ve got to start over and start from ground zero and figure this thing out and work our tails off to do it,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said postgame Monday.
Through six games, Allen has thrown for 1,397 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions — two of which were tossed against the Falcons.
