NextImg:Haason Reddick balks at having any holdout remorse after rough Jets debut

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Haason Reddick played his first game for the Jets on Sunday.

It’s understandable if you missed him.

Reddick played 26 snaps and only had two quarterback pressures.

He did not have a tackle.

This came after the 30-year-old edge rusher’s extended holdout caused him to miss the Jets’ first seven games.

He had no bearing on the eighth game either.

After the game, Reddick spoke to reporters for the first time since reporting last Monday but refused to answer any questions about the holdout.

“As of right now, fellas and everybody’s that here, I have nothing to say as far as the holdout,” Reddick said. “The only thing I’m worried about right now is what can I do to be better, what can I do to get myself fully up to speed. We’ve got a Thursday night game, and that’s the only thing I’m focused on right now — how can I get better, how can I help the team win and what do I need to do to make sure I can get these W’s.”

It is understandable if Reddick does not want to discuss the ridiculous holdout that ended up costing him nearly $12 million

“Right now, I’m not speaking on the holdout,” he said repeatedly.

The Jets were counting on Reddick being a key piece of their defense when they traded for him in March.

Instead, he stayed away, asked for a trade and showed up with the Jets season already slipping away.

He was asked if he felt responsible for the Jets record because he was not helping the team.

“Responsible for what? No, I don’t feel responsible,” Reddick said. “Do I wish some things were different, things happened differently? But like I said, I’m here now. We took an L today. The only thing I’m worried about now is what can I do to be better? What can I do to get myself fully up to speed? That way, come Thursday I’m the best version of me.”
