Looking for a new Sunday night show? NBC’s newest hit drama Grosse Point Garden Society might be just the ticket. Created by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, the show contains elements of Desperate Housewives and Good Girls and with a little bit of Big Little Lies and Bad Sisters in the mix as well. Its sterling cast includes Melissa Fumero, Aja Naomi King, Ben Rappaport, AnnaSophia Robb, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis, and Felix Wolfe.

The premise is juicy: four volunteers—Alice (Robb), Birdie (Fumero), Brett (Ban Rappaport) and Catherine (King)—kill someone and bury the victim on their Garden Club’s property on the night of a huge gala. Through dual timelines (between the present-day and six months previously), the mysteries surrounding their lives, their friendships, their potential motives, and possible victims are revealed.

While there’s obviously oodles of intrigue, the series never lets it audience forget that at the center of it all is the Grosse Point Garden Society. In this exclusive clip, Marilyn (Jennifer Irwin), the Garden Club’s tightly wound president, berates the four volunteers for not following her carefully laid out plan for this season’s garden.

“Where are my marigolds?” asks Marilyn, approaching the group as they tend to a bed of flowers. “Oh, they are too expensive,” replies Brett. “We decided to sub pansies,” says Catherine firmly. “Well, they won’t tell the same story, Catherine,” snaps Marilyn, clearly annoyed at their forwardness.

“And what story is that, Marilyn?” asks Catherine sweetly. “Once upon a time, there was a cute little Garden Club that thought they could win the most prestigious prize in the state of Michigan by planting the same flowers year after year,” says Marilyn icily. “They’d rather drink rosé and discuss their sad little marriages instead of focusing on what’s really important: making a goddamn garden that sings from the dirt to the heavens.”

Taken aback by Marilyn’s passion and easy cruelty, the group can only watch as Marilyn turns her focus to their fellow volunteer, Donna. “Donna, marigolds must be on sale somewhere, right?” asks Marilyn as she turns to leave. Donna scurries after her, and Alice shoots Catherine a look. “You had to tell her about the pansies,” says Alice. “Kind of fun watching her suffer though,” replies Catherine, clearly unbothered by the exchange.

Tune in to NBC on Sunday night at 10:00 PM ET/PT to find out what happens next.
