FOX host Greg Gutfeld made an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon Thursday, marking a surprising political crossover just weeks after President Trump roasted Jimmy Fallon and other left-leaning late night hosts following CBS’ shocking decision to cancel The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

After sharing a big hug when Gutfeld took the stage, Fallon and Gutfeld largely avoided discussing President Trump or politics at all for that matter, nor did they mention Gutfeld’s recent comments about Stephen Colbert‘s exit from CBS. But Gutfeld did regale the Tonight Show audience with a story about when he first met Fallon 15 years ago in an “illegal speakeasy” in Hell’s Kitchen.

“You have no memory of it which is okay because we were wasted,” he told Fallon. “Inside, it looked like a place where special ops forces waterboard terrorists.”

Fallon giggled as Gutfeld recounted his career path that led him back to FOX, first as the host of the late night show Red Eye and, more recently, as the host of Gutfeld!

Neither host made any mention of the fact that President Trump recently gloated over CBS canceling The Late Show, saying, “Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

Gutfeld had also shaded Fallon’s fellow late night hosts ahead of his appearance on The Tonight Show. “Unlike the other guys, Jimmy sitting with me proves he’s not afraid of upsetting his peers or afraid of my mesmerizing charm,” he said last week, per Variety.

He also criticized Colbert after The Late Show was canceled, accusing him of sermonizing viewers with his political, anti-Trump commentary.

“They didn’t just cancel the show. They canceled the whole show,” Gutfeld said. “This was an ‘institution,’ and rather than put someone in his place they just said, ‘We’re closing up.’ Imagine being a chef. You’re such a bad chef that they cancel food. … It’s so obvious. You can’t do a comedy show and a sermon at the same time.”

Unlike Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, Fallon has largely avoided politics in his late night comedy. But he spoke out in support of Colbert on The Tonight Show after news broke.

“I don’t like it. These are crazy times,” Fallon said on July 22. “Stephen has done years of very smart and hilarious television, and he’s won 10 Emmys.”

The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon airs weekdays at 11:35/10:35c on NBC.
