Midfielder Nealy Martin’s time with Gotham FC has come to an end.
Gotham granted Martin’s trade request on Tuesday, agreeing to send the 27-year-old to Angel City FC for $85,000.
Martin asked for a trade because she was hoping for more playing time and left the franchise on good terms, a source told The Post.
“More than anything I want to thank the Gotham community for taking a chance and believing in me during my time here,” Martin said. “I gave my heart and soul to this club, and a piece of me will always remain in NJ/NY. It would’ve taken something very special for me to consider leaving this place, and I have found that in Angel City. As I leave excited for this new chapter with LA, my heart is so full of gratitude for every moment here.”
Since joining the New Jersey-based club, Martin helped the team win the 2023 NWSL championship and the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup earlier this season.
She’s registered 62 starts in 73 match appearances for Gotham over the past three seasons. In 2025, she appeared in 16 of the team’s 19 matches, including 12 starts.
She came off the bench during the Concacaf W Champions Cup in May to help Gotham qualify for the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup and FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
Gotham general manager and head of soccer operations Yael Averbuch West thanked Martin for her contributions to the club.
“We support Nealy and her wishes to move on,” Averbuch West said, “and we wish her nothing but the best in this next step of her career.”

News of Martin’s trade comes a day after Gotham acquired U.S. Women’s National Team midfielder and rising American soccer star Jaedyn Shaw from the North Carolina Courage for a record $1.25 million price tag.
Gotham (7-6-6) have won each of their past two games, including Sunday against Angel City. They’re ranked sixth in the NWSL standings, with the roster freeze a month away.
Gotham’s season continues Friday, when they play the Wave in San Diego.
