NextImg:Golden Knights vs. Jets prediction: Reasons to feel good with Winnipeg

After such a promising start to the NHL playoffs, the Winnipeg Jets now find themselves with quite a job on their hands.

Not only have the Jets lost their last two games to the Vegas Golden Knights to fall behind, 2-1, in the best-of-seven series, but Winnipeg will also be without talismanic defenseman Josh Morrissey for the remainder of the first round.

The Jets were deserving winners in Game 1 and were perhaps a little unlucky to lose Game 2 despite the 5-2 scoreline, but they were outplayed at home in Game 3 and were lucky to get that contest to double overtime.

As tough a result as it was to not only lose in double overtime but also lose their top defenseman, the Jets can at least feel pretty good about a couple of things:

They’ve carried the majority of the play in this series so far, and they have the better goaltender in this matchup by a wide margin.

So even though Winnipeg is coming off its worst performance of the series, and everyone will be counting the Jets out because of the injury to Morrissey, shrewd bettors will know that now is the time to buy low on the Jets at home.

Winnipeg closed as a slight favorite on Saturday, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Jets go off as an underdog, with the betting market likely to sour on them after Game 3.

Buy low on the Jets and perhaps sprinkle a bit on the series moneyline, too.
