The 2025 Golden Globe Awards mark an exciting turning point in the industry as it recuperates from a torrid 2023 full of labor strikes with what has proven to be a fruitful year for cinema and television alike, with highly discussed releases like Wicked and English Teacher.
The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards kick off the start of the awards season, setting the tone for which projects will likely be honored at the Oscars and the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2025.
And this has been a stellar year for film and television. Netflix‘s Emilia Perez is being lauded as a true star vehicle for Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón, who could make history as the first transgender performer to be recognized in a category. Wicked is also making plenty of waves, with special attention for lead actresses Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. But Anora, Dune: Part Two, and Sing Sing have also been getting their own buzz.
As for television, we already got a taste of what to expect from the 2024 Emmys in September when Shōgun won a record 18 awards for its first season. The Bear and Baby Reindeer will likely get some recognition at the Golden Globes, but the recently released English Teacher certainly deserves some love, too.
Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut will be presenting the nominees on CBS Monday (Dec. 9) morning, and DECIDER will be updating this list of nominations as they get announced live.
Hosted by Nikki Glaser, the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on CBS Sunday, Jan. 5, and stream live on Paramount+.
