When the Giants face the 49ers Thursday in San Francisco, former first-round pick Andrew Thomas won’t be in uniform as he recovers from a strained hamstring.
By the time he comes back, a former first-round pick could be joining him on the offensive line.
The Post’s Paul Schwartz reported the Giants worked out offensive guard Justin Pugh during their time in Arizona.
The Giants selected Pugh with the No. 19 pick in 2013.
Pugh, now 33, spent his first five NFL seasons in New York before moving to Arizona on a five-year, $44.7 million deal with the Cardinals.
Pugh, who last played in the NFL in 2022, talked recently with The Post and indicated he could help the Giants can fix their leaky, banged-up offensive line.

The Syracuse alum had ACL surgery 11 months ago and told Schwartz he would need to ramp up for two or three weeks before taking the field again.
“I think I bring a lot to the table in terms of my play and what I do off the field,’’ Pugh said. “The fact I even have to sell myself gets me a little upset. Turn on the film and you can watch it yourself. Talk to any team I’ve been on and they’ll tell you what type of man I am.
“I want to win football games. I’m not in Year 10 just to be a mentor, either. I fit a lot of the Giants needs and they fit a lot of my needs, but at the same time we have to be realistic where we’re at.

“I’m not doing this for the money. I’m not asking for what I was getting early on in my career. I’m doing this to chase a ring and that’s something that has to be a realistic expectation as well.’’
As for Thomas, he strained his hamstring while pursuing the ball on a blocked field goal in the season-opening loss to the Cowboys.

He was able to finish that game but did not play in Arizona.
Second-year offensive lineman Josh Ezeudu is expected to start for the second straight week in place of Thomas.
Ben Bredeson, the starting left guard, also has been ruled out for the game with the 49ers as he remains in the concussion protocol.

Mark Glowinski, benched at one point in favor of Marcus McKethan, likely will start at left guard.
