All firings are followed, eventually, with hirings and the Giants are in the market for several new assistants for Brian Daboll’s coaching staff.
The position of offensive line coach is open and Daboll will interview Carmen Bricillo, who ran the offensive line for the Raiders, The Post confirmed.
The Giants are deeply in the swirl of coaching turnover following the NFL’s Black Monday firing frenzy.
Daboll jettisoned special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey, offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins and defensive assistant Kevin Wilkins.
Daboll and the Giants are also waiting for official word on the resignation of defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.
Given the continued decrepit performance of the offensive line, this is an important hire for Daboll as the Giants try to fix a unit that allowed an NFL-high 85 sacks this past season.
Bricillo, 47, was previously the offensive line coach on Bill Belichick’s staff with the Patriots, as he was one of two assistants tasked with replacing legendary offensive line guru Dante Scarneccia after he retired following the 2019 season.
Daboll and Bricillo share ties with Belichick but did not work together in New England.
The Raiders are going through interviews for their head coach and general manager vacancies and gave permission for Bricillo to meet with the Giants for what would be a lateral move.
Bricillo was a high school coach in Indiana for two years before embarking on his college coaching career at Duquesne, his alma mater, in 2005.
