Giants right tackle Evan Neal left Friday’s practice with a concussion.
Neal’s development is one of the keys to the season – especially with so much other uncertainty on the line of scrimmage – and now he will miss practice time until he can clear the five-step concussion protocol.
Neal won at least two of his three one-on-one pass-rushing reps earlier in practice.
When Neal headed inside with trainers, the Giants turned to Matt Peart to finish practice.
Last season’s swing tackle, Tyre Phillips, is in the mix to start at guard, too.
The Giants practice again Saturday night before an off day Sunday.
Next week includes one practice in East Rutherford before a Monday night flight to Detroit for two joint practices with the Lions ahead of the preseason opener.
Neal was selected by the Giants with the seventh overall pick in last year’s NFL draft.
