Continuing to tinker with the roster prior to the start of training camp, the Giants added depth on their defensive line Monday with the signing of Brandin Bryant, a 29-year-old veteran.
Bryant spent parts of the past three seasons with the Bills, giving him familiarity with head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, both hired by the Giants from Buffalo.
Bryant was not drafted in 2016 and has been in camp or on the practice squad with several teams in the NFL and CFL.
He has appeared in 11 games in the NFL with the Browns and Bills, with no starts.
Two wide receivers, Dre Miller and Makai Polk, were waived one day before Tuesday’s reporting day for training camp.
In mid-June, the Giants first added to their defensive tackle depth with the signing of Kobe Smith, who had been with four different NFL teams, with no games played in the regular season.
The Giants added a coach to Daboll’s staff with the hiring of Mike Adams, a longtime NFL safety who had been with the Giants as a coaching intern last summer and was an assistant defensive backs coach for the Bears in 2021.
Adams played 16 years for six different teams, quite a career for a player who went undrafted out of Delaware.
Adams, born in Paterson, N.J., made two Pro Bowls.
He will be the assistant special teams coach, replacing Anthony Blevins, who was with the Giants the past five years before leaving this summer to become the head coach of the Vegas Vipers in the XFL.
Steven Thomas is also a first-year special teams assistant, working with coordinator Thomas McGaughey.
