The Giants continued Wednesday to reverse a bad habit they have picked up over the last decade-plus of not re-signing their own draft picks.
Outside linebacker Oshane Ximines, a 2019 third-round pick, agreed to terms to return to the Giants, The Post confirmed.
The deal is for one year, per reports.
He is the third member of that 2019 draft class to re-up this offseason, though he likely will have to fight for a roster spot, whereas the other two, quarterback Daniel Jones and even wide receiver Darius Slayton, are more cemented.
Ximines has 6.5 sacks in 45 career games.
Formerly a starter, Ximines fell out of favor under former head coach Joe Judge’s watch in 2021 and was at one-time a long shot to make the 2022 roster.
He earned his spot, however, and averaged 35 defensive snaps over his first 10 games of the season.
His playing time decreased down the stretch.
The Giants only gave second consecutive contracts to two players drafted from 2011-18: wide receivers Sterling Shepherd and Odell Beckham Jr..
Behind starters Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari, the Giants also have veteran Jihad Ward (13 career sacks) and youngsters Elerson Smith (zero) and Tomon Fox (one).
They did not use any of their seven draft picks this year on an edge rusher.
