NextImg:Giants’ offensive line overmatched during rough practice

Observations from Moday’s Giants practice:

DT Leonard Williams and OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux lived in the offensive backfield.

Williams knocked over RB Matt Breida and then did an Allen Iverson-esque step-over while Breida was on the ground to take a knee because the unrelenting heat bested his gassed body.

Mark Glowinski (#64) and Evan Neal (#73) struggled through a rough Giants practice on Monday.

Thibodeaux was doing sack dances at RT Evan Neal’s expense.

The flip side of that dominance … the offensive line was overmatched, allowing between three and five “sacks” depending on the timing of the whistle.

Josh Ezeudu, Mark Glowinski and Ben Bredeson rotated at guard without any noticeable resistance.

One series was stuck in reverse with three straight sacks before QB Daniel Jones threw up a fourth-down prayer knocked down by LB Bobby Okereke after escaping a crowded pocket.

Remember David Sills?

The star of many recent training camps gone by because of his connection with Jones has been pushed to the third-team offense by increased receiver depth.

Sure enough, QB Tommy Devito hit Sills streaking down the right sideline for the biggest gain of practice.

David Sills has fallen down the depth chart amid increased competition at receiver.

OL Tyre Phillips and Jack Anderson, WR Cole Beasley, RB Gary Brightwell, TE Tommy Sweeney, LB Cam Brown, DE Ryder Anderson, S Nick McCloud, S Jason Pinnock and CB Cor’Dale Flott did not practice.

DT Rakeem Roches-Nunez didn’t join teammates until the middle of practice for unknown reasons.

WR Collin Johnson was back at practice after not playing in last week’s game.
