NextImg:Giants’ Isaiah Hodgins returning to Buffalo with ‘chip on my shoulder’

Isaiah Hodgins still is the best thing to come to the Giants out of Brian Daboll’s and Joe Schoen’s inside knowledge of the Bills’ roster.

Claimed off of waivers last November, Hodgins became quarterback Daniel Jones’ No. 1 target during the second half of last season and had a team-high 108 receiving yards during the wild-card victory at Minnesota.

Like Schoen (former Bills assistant general manager) and Daboll (former Bills offensive coordinator), Hodgins is returning Sunday to play as an opponent for the first time since he left Buffalo.

“I’m definitely excited to go back out there with a new team and a little bit of a chip on my shoulder — ready to put a good game together,” Hodgins told The Post. “You can be grateful and have a chip on your shoulder at the same time.”

Hodgins has 10 catches for 107 yards and one touchdown — the only one scored by a Giants receiver — in five games this season.

He was stuck behind the Bills’ Stefon Diggs for the first two-plus seasons of his career.

“They drafted me into the league, gave me opportunities and kept me around the building, which I was thankful for,” Hodgins said. “But they also cut me a couple times. So I’m going back there with a swagger and determination to do everything I can to show them the player that I am.”

Hodgins, quarterback Tyrod Taylor and running back Matt Breida — three starters Sunday — all are former Bills.

So are defensive back Nick McCloud, outside linebacker Boogie Basham and receiver Cole Beasley (practice squad).

“Tyrod was dicing it up all camp long and he’s ready to let it rip,” Hodgins said. “He has something to prove, and a lot of the receivers have the same thing to prove. We haven’t [shown what we really are], and this is the perfect opportunity to do that.”

Offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste’s first practice after signing to the practice squad was Wednesday.

There’s no time for a soft landing, as he could be starting at right tackle or be the top backup at both tackle spots Sunday.

“I’m not a fortune-teller, so I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Cajuste said. “If the team needs me, that’s why I’m here. If you are called on, you have to be ready regardless.”

Cajuste said he was training at home for a couple weeks and is “all good now” after he was cut by the Jets with an injury designation in August.

Familiarity with similar blocking schemes earlier in his career with the Patriots should help.

“I’m used to everything being run here,” Cajuste said.

The Giants ruled out QB Daniel Jones (neck), LT Andrew Thomas (hamstring), LB Azeez Ojulari (ankle), OT Matt Peart (shoulder) and C John Michael Schmitz (shoulder).

RB Saquon Barkley (ankle), RB Gary Brightwell (ankle), RT Evan Neal (ankle), DT D.J. Davidson (knee), TE Darren Waller (groin), LG Shane Lemieux (groin) and LB Micah McFadden (ankle) are listed as questionable.

Coming off a torn ACL, offensive tackle La’El Collins — a career 86-game starter — had a free-agent workout for the Giants earlier this week. Did he look healthy?

“He’s out there running in shorts,” Daboll said. “He did a good job. A good workout.”
