NextImg:Giants interviewing first known candidates for Wink Martindale vacancy

The Giants have their first known candidates to lead their post-Wink Martindale defense.

They recently interviewed Ravens secondary coach Dennard Wilson for their defensive coordinator opening, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced Friday.

Wilson is in his first year with the team — which has a first-round bye after finishing as the No.1 seed in the AFC — and has previously coached with the Eagles, Jets and Rams.

The Ravens gave up the sixth-fewest passing yards and third-fewest passing touchdowns in the NFL in the regular season this year, and recorded 18 interceptions — tied for third-most.

Wilson has helped develop Kyle Hamilton, who was named a First-Team All-Pro safety on Friday, into one of the league’s best at his position.

The Giants are also set to interview Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen for the role, The Post confirmed.

He recently finished his third season as the Titans’ defensive coordinator, but Tennessee recently fired head coach Mike Vrabel.

It’s the Giants’ first known interviews for defensive coordinator since head coach Brian Daboll and Wink Martindale had a bitter falling out, which resulted in Martindale and the Giants mutually parting ways.

The Giants will not have to pay the $3 million Martindale was owed, and Martindale is free to be hired by any other team as part of their agreement.

The Giants requested permission to interview Panthers’ interim head coach and special teams coordinator Chris Tabor for their special teams coordinator opening after firing Thomas McGaughey but were denied, The Post confirmed.

It’s the third candidate the Giants have been blocked from interviewing for special teams coordinator, including Chargers special teams coach Ryan Ficken and Falcons special teams coordinator Maurice Williams.

Dexter Lawrence was named a Second Team All-Pro on Friday, the only Giants player named on any of the All-Pro teams.

Lawrence was also previously voted a Pro bowler.

It’s the second consecutive year Lawrence was named both to the Second-Team All-Pro and a Pro Bowler.

Lawrence, despite battling a hamstring injury the latter part of the season, was dominant in the first year of his four-year, $87.5 million extension he signed last offseason.

He recorded 4.5 sacks, 53 total tackles and seven tackles for loss, according to Pro Football Reference.

He was also Pro Football Focus’ top-graded interior defensive lineman with a 93.0 overall grade.

Inside linebacker Bobby Okereke was perhaps snubbed after a strong first season with the team after signing a four-year, $40 million deal with the team last offseason.

He recorded 149 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles as well as 10 passes defensed and two interceptions in coverage.

A case could also be made for safety Xavier MicKinney, who is set to be a free agent.

He finished with three interceptions, two of which came in the Giants’ Week 18 win over the Eagles, 11 passes defensed and 116 total tackles.
