NextImg:Giants’ Brian Daboll goes ballistic on refs over Kayvon Thibodeaux penalty

Giants head coach Brian Daboll was less than pleased with a second-half penalty called on linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Daboll unloaded on the officials after Thibodeaux was called for an illegal contact call during a third-and-8 situation on the Giants’ 12-yard line.

The penalty gave the 49ers a fresh set of downs, which they used to get a field goal out of an eventual 72-yard drive in San Francisco’s 30-12 win.

The Giants coach was seen going ballistic on the sideline, ripping off his headset and punching the air as he screamed at an official.

He continued to scream as he was moved back onto the sideline.

New York had trailed 20-12 at the time of the penalty.

The Giants were hoping to bounce off the historic comeback win last Sunday over Arizona, but things did not turn out as well against the undefeated 49ers, who moved to 3-0 while the Giants moved to 1-2.

On the positive side, earlier in the game, Thibodeaux recorded the Giants’ first sack of the season.

Thibodeaux was able to beat All-Pro offensive tackle Trent Williams to get to Brock Purdy for the sack and push the 49ers back four yards.

Williams later got into a scuffle with the Giants tackle A’Shawn Robinson, punching him in the face.

Williams and Robinson were both penalized for unnecessary roughness, but the punch wasn’t mentioned in the calls from officials.

Overall, the Giants were flagged six times for 37 yards in the road loss.
