tRY IT NOWAfter practice Friday, the offensive lineman said he feels better than he has the past two weeks ahead of the “Sunday Night Football” Week 3 clash against the Chiefs.
The new feeling comes after three consecutive practice days, which is a first for Thomas this season.
“Starting to build a volume and get my confidence back. It’s exciting for sure,” he said.
Still, Thomas is listed as questionable and it’s expected to be a gametime decision whether or not he plays in the Big Blue’s MetLife Stadium home opener.
It depends on how well he recovers from this week while keeping the focus on “longevity,” he said.
“Don’t know,” Thomas said of his confidence for Sunday. “Make a gametime decision, but I’m feeling a lot better than I did last week.”
In the first three weeks of the season, Thomas has only participated in a total of one full-pads practice — and that was not this week.
Although, coach Brian Daboll’s plan for his star has been for Thomas to take “a lot of reps” and increase his workload.
Thomas is confident he can play a full game, but is open to the idea of a rotation with rookie backup Marcus Mbow who shined against the Cowboys, allowing two pressures on 37 dropbacks off the bench.
A rotation is not something Thomas has done yet in his career.
