The old adage “snitches get stitches” reportedly has convicted sexual predator Ghislaine Maxwell living in fear of retaliation in prison after she snitched on two violent inmates who tried to extort her.
The two Cuban women were placed in solitary confinement for 47 days after the 61-year-old madam reported them to authorities at her Florida federal prison for demanding items from her commissary, a source at the prison told the Daily Mail.
Now, the sex trafficker is shaking in her prison boots because the women have been released back into the general population at low-security FCI Tallahassee, according to the outlet.
Maxwell, who has been at the facility since July 2022, is apparently so terrified of retaliation that she’s refusing to use showers where she fears she could be physically attacked.
She is also being escorted daily to and from her job at the prison library by a guard. The “tattooed, tall and thick” Cubans, known inside as “Las Cubanas,” have been moved to another unit, the source told the Mail.
“’Las Cubanas have a reputation for being tough and mean inside jail and they don’t let anything slide,” the source added. “They are saying Maxwell needs to pay for the 47.”
“They will beat her up the first chance they get,” they added.
A Manhattan federal court jury convicted Maxwell on five of six counts in December 2021, including sex trafficking of minors, for helping pedophile financier ex Jeffrey Epstein groom girls and young women for him to abuse.
She was sentenced to 20 years in prison in June 2022.
Maxwell, a strict vegan, had allegedly worked out a deal with prison kitchen staff who would steal extra fruit, vegetables and tofu in exchange for items that can be purchased at the commissary, which offers candy and other snacks.
When the Cuban women found out, the insider said they demanded Maxwell, aka “Max,” spend her entire $360 commissary limit on them or they would report her secret deal to prison officials.
They wrote their demands in a note, “which was a bad idea as Max took that to the lieutenant’s office as evidence of blackmail,” the source told the Daily Mail.
The pair received a punishment of 47 days in the prisons Special Housing Unit, in which inmates spend 23 hours a day in a tiny cell and are fed through slots in the door, according to the outlet.
The disgraced socialite reportedly spent 48 hours in the SHU herself after she did a jailhouse interview with British broadcaster Jeremy Kyle in January. She was released after investigators determined she had not profited from the interview, according to the Daily Mail.
Maxwell was given the option of self-segregating by going into protective custody after “freaking out” about her new enemies’ release but chose not to.
“It’s the same as the SHU, the only difference is that it’s voluntary, so she wouldn’t accept that,” the source told the outlet.
Maxwell appealed her sex-trafficking conviction in February, arguing prosecutors and the judge made a series of “fatal” errors during her trial.
Maxwell’s attorneys claimed the Justice Department had prosecuted her client as a “proxy” for Jeffrey Epstein to “satisfy public outrage” over the case in the aftermath of his sudden in-custody death in a Manhattan jail in 2019.
