The Georgia Bulldogs find themselves in an unfamiliar position as they head to Texas to take on the Longhorns.

Kirby Smart’s club is in line to be an underdog for the first time in more than three years when it takes the field in Austin on Saturday in one of the most highly anticipated college football games of the year.

The Bulldogs have been favored in 49 straight games, dating back to their season-opener in September 2021 against the Clemson Tigers, when they were 2.5-point underdogs.

They won that game 10-3. 

If they stay underdogs, it will mark the end of the longest favorite streak in college football, per ESPN.

Texas, which has been a favorite in 18 straight games, has the second-longest streak. 

The Longhorns opened as 3.5-point favorites, but big money has since come in on Texas, which sits as a five-point favorite. 

Both teams came into the season with massive expectations and will almost definitely be part of the College Football Playoff later this season. 

Texas is tied with Oregon for the best odds (-2000) to make the playoff while Georgia has the fifth-best odds (-460) at FanDuel Sportsbook. 

The Longhorns have the best odds to win the national championship (+350), while Georgia (+490) is just behind Ohio State (+450) with the third-best odds. 

Texas comes into this key SEC matchup 6-0, having won last week’s Red River Rivalry game over the Oklahoma Sooners. 

Georgia is 5-1, losing a 41-34 thriller to the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 28.
