NextImg:Georgia residents call Fani Willis an ‘embarrassment,’ bash corruption in Fulton County

Embattled Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis was called an “embarrassment” to her Atlanta community during a public hearing Wednesday.

Residents also demanded she cooperate with requests for documents in the misuse of funds probe into her relationship with Nathan Wade, special prosecutor in Donald Trump’s election interference case.

Willis has now admitted to having a “personal relationship” with Nathan Wade, who stands accused of spending some of the $654,000 he has earned for his work on the Trump case on lavish gifts and vacations with his boss, court records show.

“What the hell is going on? I know you guys write the checks. She is an embarrassment to the board and to the citizens footing the bill,” Kevin Muldowny testified at a Fulton County Board of Commissioners public hearing.

“Fani is doing exactly what Fani wants; whether its carrying on an adulterous relationship with an underqualified stud she hired, or ignoring a direct request from a sitting commissioner for a full audit.”

Wade filed for divorce from his wife of 26 years on the same day he was appointed special prosecutor in 2021, but the case has yet to be fully resolved.

Former president Trump, the current GOP presidential frontrunner, is charged with more than a dozen felonies along with 14 co-defendants for their alleged efforts to overturn his 2020 loss in The Peach State to President Biden.

Trump’s lawyers want Willis and Wade disqualified from the case over their relationship. A House ally of the former president also subpoenaed Willis last week in connection with allegations the prosecutor fired a whistleblower who tried to stop a top campaign aide from misusing federal funds.

“Fani Willis isn’t serving this community; she wasn’t even before she became absorbed with her own legal problems. No one believes that now amid new lawsuits, congressional investigations and subpoenas that she will start doing her job,” resident Julie Allen testified over Zoom.

“The community deserves a prosecutor whose first priority is public safety and the rule of law, not helping Joe Biden win in 2024,” she said, while calling on Willis to resign.

Willis’ office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Post. The Democrat had previously vowed to fire any co-workers who slept together and claimed she would not date her subordinates in an interview from around the time she was appointed as DA.

County resident Matt Roenzack alleged in virtual testimony nepotism ran rampant in the office, as Willis’ chief investigator is married to her chief legal assistant

“It’s just example after example after example of corruption in this county and it needs to be dealt with,” Roenzack said.

Angry residents also railed against Commissioner Natalie Hall, who was found to have sexually discriminated against her former chief of staff Calvin Brock by firing him after their romantic relationship ended. The county was ordered to pay Brock some $900,000 by a judge last month.

A resolution had been introduced by a board member to make Hall pay some of those funds from her office coffers.

“I would like to give my most sincere appreciation for y’all’s attempt to hold Natalie Hall accountable to make restitution for her financial crimes against the taxpayers of Fulton County,” Maria Godea told the board, testifying in person.

“I think it would be best if Ms. Hall has a $1 maximum for every paycheck from here on end until restitution — complete restitution — has been made; and that includes the fees for a lengthy, unnecessary trial, that should have never taken place if she had any ethics,” Godea said.

“Her perpetual intimidation and harassment of Mr. Calvin Brock in the state of Georgia, one incident would be considered a misdemeanor. But … all of her crimes, added up together, all of her incidences of harassment were felonies,” Godea said, claiming Willis was “inept” for failing to press charges against Hall.
