Former major league pitcher George Frazier passed away, the Rockies announced on Monday night.

He was 68 years old.

He died earlier in the day in Tulsa, Okla., after a recent battle with an undisclosed illness, according to the Denver Post.

Frazier spent 10 years in the majors having played for the Cardinals, Yankees, Indians, Cubs and Twins.

He made two World Series appearances during his career, first with the Yankees in 1981 and then a second in 1987 when he won with the Twins.

Frazier was charged with three losses in the 1981 World Series, which the Yankees lost in six games to the Dodgers.

During his time in The Bronx, Frazier appeared in 140 games over three seasons and had a 3.25 ERA.

It was in his final year in the big leagues that Frazier finally won a coveted World Series ring.

He made one relief appearance for the Twins during the seven-game series against St. Louis, when in Game 4 he allowed just one hit over two innings and struck out one batter.

Over the course of his 10-year career, Frazier never started a game and went 35-43 with a 4.20 ERA.

Following the end of his playing career, Frazier joined Colorado broadcast team in 1998 and remained there through 2015.

“We are deeply saddened at the passing of former Rockies color analyst, George Frazier,” the Rockies said in a statement. “A retired MLB pitcher, George was a mainstay and the voice behind many classic calls on Rockies broadcasts from 1998-2015. For a generation of Rockies fans, George Frazier was synonymous with Rockies baseball. Our thoughts are with George’s wife, Kay, and his four kids, Matt, Brian, Parker and Georgia, during this time.”

Frazier was in the broadcast booth during the 2007 season when the Rockies reached the World Series for the first and only time in franchise history.
