Jonathan Jackson‘s run on General Hospital is coming to an end… again.

DECIDER can confirm that the actor is bidding farewell to the ABC soap. According to TV Insider, who was first to break the news on Thursday (June 5) of his series departure, Jackson’s first run as Lucky Spencer first began in 1993, and lasted until 1999. Jackson briefly took on the role once again in 2015, before making his way back this past August.

“Lucky is back on @generalhospital today!” Jackson shared in an Aug. 23, 2024 Instagram post. “Exciting things to come. Much love!”

Jackson, whose last episode on the series will air next week, has appeared in over 450 episodes of General Hospital since 1993, per IMDb.

In a statement, General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said that they “were so glad Jonathan was able to reprise the role of Lucky, even if it was for a limited time.”

“We wish him nothing but the best and the door is always open for Jonathan to return,” he added.

Ahead of Thursday afternoon’s episode, Valentini posted on X, “Liz and Lucky’s relationship reaches a crossroad…do they have a future together?,” tagging both Jackson and his co-star, Rebecca Herbst.

Jackson is also known for starring as Avery Barkley on all six seasons of Nashville, as well as in 2002’s Insomnia and Tuck Everlasting. Outside of his return to General Hospital, he most recently starred in Unsung Hero, a film from Richard L. Ramsey and Christian pop duo For King & Country member Joel Smallbone.
