Gary Sanchez is coming back to New York — even if it’s only Syracuse or Binghamton.
The former Yankees catcher signed a minor-league deal with the Mets on Tuesday morning, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported.
Sanchez, 30, was released by the Giants last week after he hit .164 without a home run in 16 games for the team’s TrIple-A affiliate in Sacramento.
In March 2022, Sanchez and Gio Urshela were traded by the Yankees to the Twins for a deal that netted Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and catcher Ben Rortvedt.
Sanchez hit .205 with 16 home runs and 61 RBIs in his one season for Minnesota.
The Mets currently have Tomas Nido and top prospect Francisco Alvarez splitting time at catcher after presumed starter Omar Narvaez suffered a calf strain the opening week of the season.
The injury is expected to sideline Narvaez into June.
