The Mets did not get the news they wanted on Francisco Alvarez.

Manager Carlos Mendoza said after the Mets’ win over the Dodgers on Saturday that the catcher tore a ligament in his thumb and he’ll require surgery.

There is not a specific timetable to return, <a href="https://twitter.com/NYPost_Mets/status/1781832657577578883">though The Post’s Mike Puma</a> reported that Alvarez told teammates it could be six to eight weeks.

Alvarez landed on the injured list Saturday after hurting his thumb while running the bases Friday.
