Another American tennis star is leaving Wimbledon early.

After winning the first set, No. 12 seed Frances Tiafoe was dumped out of the second round by Brit Cameron Norrie on Wednesday, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5.

The loss continues a string of disappointments at the All England Club for Tiafoe, who has never reached the quarterfinals at the grass-court Grand Slam and has only made it to the fourth round once in 2022.

Tiafoe, done in by 33 unforced errors on Wednesday, also lost in the second round of this year’s Australian Open before making the quarterfinals at the French Open.

His ouster comes on the heels of women’s French Open champion Coco Gauff’s stunning first-round loss to Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska on Tuesday, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1.

Gauff revealed afterward she was “overwhelmed” in the aftermath of her victory at Roland Garros, perhaps impacting her preparation for Wimbledon.

Earlier Tuesday, No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula was also shocked in the first round, falling 6-2, 6-3 to Elisabetta Cocciaretto of Italy.

It marked the first time Pegula failed to make it out of the first round at a Grand Slam since the 2020 French Open.

After making it to the U.S. Open final last year, Pegula has yet to make it past the fourth round in a Grand Slam in 2025.

Tiafoe’s exit means 14 of the 32 men’s seeds are already eliminated, with the second round not even complete.
