Fox Business host Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery has angrily responded to The View co-host Sunny Hostin‘s recent accusations that white women choose to stand by Donald Trump because they “want to protect the patriarchy.”
On Tuesday’s (May 30) episode of the long-running daytime talk show, Hostin claimed that GOP women voters “fall in line” with their husbands.
“I think that women, white women in particular, want to protect this patriarchy here, because it’s to their benefit,” Hostin said on the live broadcast. “They want to make sure their husbands do well. They want to make sure their sons do well. They want to make sure their children do well. They want to make sure they do well.”
She continued, “Most of the women in some of these studies are married, white women. They do fall in line with what their husbands are doing, how their husbands are voting.”
However, Kennedy — who stopped by Fox News Tonight hours after The View aired — had a different take as she crudely presumed that the women on the Hot Topics panel might have “brain damage” from being “kept inside that fart vacuum next to Whoopi Goldberg,” clearly referring to the gassy accusations against the longtime host.
“[Hostin’s] saying that moms want their children to do well and their husbands to do well. What a bunch of racists,” she sarcastically said. “So they’re gonna vote for people to make sure their families succeed? Wow, this country has really gone to hell.”
Kennedy added, “That’s how most people vote. Most people vote because they want their husbands, their spouses, their kids especially to have as much opportunity as they can in this country. That’s not racism. That’s rationality.”
The commentator went on to say that Hostin “paints with a pretty broad brush” and noted that she has yet to see any of the data the lawyer referenced. Kennedy asked, “Who did she talk to? Who did she poll? Who are these magical white women who are just shields for their racist husbands?”
It sounds like Kennedy may not have seen the entire View segment, which was very clearly tied to a Washington Post article in which the outlet interviewed over a dozen Pennsylvania women, most of whom were “overwhelmingly unmoved” by Trump’s sexual assault verdict in E. Jean Carroll’s lawsuit.
“I am shocked that people on The View have not been punished or sanctioned by their network for espousing some of the racist views that they do on a daily basis,” Kennedy said. “They have gotten way too comfortable being cruel and divisive. They are not making the country better. It’s not intelligent conversation. It’s not funny. There’s really nothing of value when you watch that show.”
Before wrapping up the topic, Kennedy got in one last dig at Hostin — who she called a “garbage person with garbage opinions.”
“When you have other women like that, shaming moms who are doing their very best to provide for their families and lead by example, and then someone like Sunny in the fart factory is somehow maligning us … There’s, you know, a special place in hell, I hear, for women who don’t support other women,” she concluded.
A bit hypocritical to say after calling another woman “a garbage person,” but we’ll leave it to Hostin to fire back if she pleases when The View airs today at 11/10c on ABC.
Decider has reached out to The View for comment on Kennedy’s rant, but did not hear back by time of publication.
