Four NYPD officers were hurt after a police chase ended in a car crash, according to the NYPD and a witness.
The incident happened just after 7 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Remsen and Seaview avenues in Canarsie.
The officers suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
A woman gardening nearby heard a car speed by, before two patrol vehicles with their sirens on raced past and crashed into the car.
Laura G. was gardening when she heard a car speed by. Moments later, two police cars with sirens on crashed into the speeding vehicle, according to the witness.
“I heard it fly by. He was speeding…Then two police cars came with sirens on and you heard a bang.”
“The two cop cars were totaled. It was like tuna fish cans,” said the Canarsie resident, who gave her name as Laura.
“These were all young cops. They were shaken up but they got out of the car.”
“It’s a terrible corner. It’s terrible speeding,” she added.
“If there were people in the island waiting they would be killed.”
