Former South Carolina and Cleveland Browns quarterback Connor Shaw is receiving medical treatment after a scary incident on Wednesday night.

Shaw, who was coaching his 9-year-old son’s football team in Greenville, S.C, collapsed and was taken to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital where he is being treated.

It is unclear what medical condition he is dealing with, but he was wheeled off the field in an ambulance, according to a report from The State.

As of Thursday morning, there was no update on his health status, although the Gamecock community has been posting in support of their former star.

“Reading that Connor Shaw collapsed while coaching his kids’ football team tonight,” @jhovey34 posted on X, “Freaking scary stuff. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Connor Shaw it’s that’s he’s a fighter. Keep fighting 14 and we’ll keep praying.”

Shaw was the South Carolina starting quarterback for three seasons from 2010 to 2013 and holds the record for most wins by a Gamecocks quarterback.

He finished his career with 6,074 passing yards and 56 touchdowns while being elected to the South Carolina athletics hall of fame in 2021.

Shaw signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2014, where he played in the NFL alongside Texas A&M great and NFL flameout Johnny Manziel.

Shaw played in one game during his NFL career in 2014 — a 2010 loss to the Ravens — completing 14 of 28 passes for 177 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.

After his playing career ended in 2016 with the Bears, he transitioned into other roles in football, serving as the USC quarterbacks coach for a brief period in 2020 and eventually moving into a role in player development.
